At the practice
Miss Huq is a warm, approachable and highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, known for her calm, reassuring manner and outstanding clinical expertise. With over 19 years of experience in obstetrics, she provides expert, individualised care to women throughout pregnancy and birth, always with compassion, clarity and professionalism.
As a mother herself, Miss Huq understands first-hand that pregnancy and birth are not only significant medical events, but also deeply personal experiences. She recognises that this journey can bring great joy as well as moments of uncertainty, and she is committed to supporting women with kindness, sensitivity and clear guidance at every stage. Her aim is always to ensure that each woman feels listened to, informed, reassured and fully supported throughout her pregnancy and delivery journey.
She is a Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital, where she cares for women with high-risk pregnancies and provides ambulatory gynaecology services. Her NHS practice includes a weekly elective caesarean section list, a dedicated weekly high-risk antenatal clinic and she also provides consultant cover for the labour ward. Her regular involvement in all aspects of obstetric care reflects both the breadth of her experience and her commitment to safe, high-quality maternity care.
Miss Huq is known for taking the time to listen carefully to her patients, understand their concerns and support their individual preferences wherever possible. Whether discussing birth plans, guiding women through complex pregnancies, or providing reassurance during labour and delivery, her focus is always on delivering safe, thoughtful and personalised care.
Background
Miss Huq qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2001 and completed the Guy’s and St Thomas’ surgical rotation, gaining her MRCS before going on to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology. She later achieved her MRCOG and developed specialist expertise in maternal medicine and high-risk obstetrics.
She also holds an MD(Res) from UCL, with research focused on improving care for women with complex medical needs in pregnancy. In her role as Maternity Risk Lead, she has contributed significantly to improving safety, communication and multidisciplinary teamwork within maternity services.
Known for her thoughtful and caring approach, Miss Huq combines exceptional experience with genuine warmth, helping women navigate pregnancy and birth with confidence and reassurance.
