Miss Emma Kirk is a highly trained and experienced consultant in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology . Miss Kirk graduated from St George’s Hospital (University of London) in 1999. She qualified as a Member of The Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists in 2009.
She is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Free Hospital, London. She is the clinical lead for Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology. She has a special interest in early pregnancy with over 12 years’ experience. She is an expert in gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound. She regularly sees patients for gynaecological review, investigations into abnormal bleeding, investigation of pelvic pain, discussions about contraception and early pregnancy problems. She works closely with Miss Mellon and fertility clinics to assist with pre-conception work-ups and can arrange any investigations required. She can perform ultrasound assessments for tubal patency (HyCoSy) and performs minor surgical procedures at the Portland Hospital and the London Clinic.
Miss Kirk is passionate about driving advances in her field and worked as a research fellow for many years. She has published extensively in established research journals on many different areas of early pregnancy, with more than 50 publications. She holds a number of leading positions including Coordinator of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology Special Interest Group in Early Pregnancy, Executive member of the Association of Early Pregnancy Units and a medical advisor to the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. Miss Kirk is also a ClearBlue medical professional adviser: critiquing their new products, broadening their medical understanding and helping them stay up to date with changing clinical trends.
Miss Kirk is also very involved with teaching and frequently lectures on different aspects of early pregnancy. She co-organises the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists advanced training skill course on Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology. She regularly lectures on gynaecological ultrasound courses.
Miss Kirk’s extensive experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, particularly with early pregnancy, has resulted in Emma being able to provide the highest standards of treatment and care to all her patients.
