During the years leading up to the menopause, and beyond, women can experience unwanted symptoms such as changes to their bleeding, changes to their mood, anxiety, hot flushes and vaginal dryness.
We can offer you the chance to have a gynaecological heath check as well as to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. The doctor can also advise you on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), they will discuss the risks vs benefits of HRT and can tailor a regimen to suit your needs if this is something you would like to consider.
An appointment includes a consultation with one of our Consultants where you will have the chance to talk about the changes that are occurring and what you can expect to happen as time goes on. You will be offered a physical examination and a pelvic ultrasound to assess the health of your womb and ovaries. If appropriate the Consultant may also order blood tests to check your hormone levels, bone health and your cardiovascular risk factors. These are all important aspects of general health with are very relevant to the menopause and to any hormonal treatment you may wish to consider.
We are also able to arrange a mammogram to screen for breast cancer and a DEXA bone density scan to assess for osteoporosis (bone thinning). These investigations would be billed for by the appropriate facility. For our consultation prices please see our fees.
