Miss Claire Mellon

Miss Mellon is a renowned London based Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 15 years experience in her field. She graduated from University of Glasgow in 1988 (MBCHB) and became a fully qualified Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2002. She originally trained as a GP in Australia, later returning to Britain to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Claire Mellon was named one of Britain’s 250 best private doctors, Tatler Magazine June 2007. In her general obstetrics practice she deals with anything ranging from complicated caesarean section deliveries to water birth deliveries.

Miss Mellon’s role covers major and minor surgery, the labour ward, antenatal clinic and a busy gynaecology clinic. She deals with general gynaecology including emergencies. transvaginal scanning of early pregnancy, pre-fertility workup and co-ordination with fertility clinics in USA and other countries for surrogacy & IVF.  She is highly skilled in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery with a particular interest in the treatment of fibroids.

Miss Mellon practices privately at The Portland Hospital, and is also a trustee for Wellbeing of Women, a charity that raises funds for research into women’s health. She holds a number of other leading positions, including principal investigator for International Bayer trial for medical management of fibroids and the Medical lead for Female Genital Mutilation at Whittington Hospital, as well as Obstetric Ward lead. Miss Mellon is also passionate about teaching and was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer at Whittington Hospital for Medical Students.
